The Leapfrog Group and National Business Coalition on Health's 2nd Annual Incentives and Rewards Workshop
July 19-20, 2006
Chicago, IL

WASHINGTON DC, USA -- HEALTHCARE UPDATE NEWS SERVICE(TM) -- JUNE 29, 2006: The Leapfrog Group and the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH) are co-hosting their 2nd annual, two-day, multi-stakeholder workshop on the implementation of two national incentives and rewards (I&R) initiatives: one focusing on hospital care performance improvement, Leapfrog's Hospital Rewards Program, and the other focusing on ambulatory care performance improvement, Bridges to Excellence. Expert speakers, drawing on their involvement with these two programs as well as lessons learned from the Rewarding Results Grantees, Leapfrog's Incentives and Rewards Pilots, NBCH's eValue8, and Leapfrog's Health Plan User Groups, will highlight most aspects of incentive and reward program development, implementation, and refinement. Special emphasis will be put on how to structure benefit designs to steer patients to high value providers as well as alter payment schemes to reward those same providers.

At the Workshop, the first ever Driving Value in Health Care Awards will be given out. There are two award categories. One award, sponsored by Medstat, will be given to a health plan or health care purchaser that offers direct rewards to providers in the health care delivery system for providing high quality and cost effective care. Another award, sponsored by Booz Allen Hamilton, will be presented to a health care purchaser or health plan that has created an innovative strategy for encouraging better health care decisions on the part of consumers.
