WASHINGTON DC USA -- HEALTHCARE UPDATE NEWS SERVICE™ -- MAY 18, 2020: The Virtual Summit on Health System Recovery from COVID-19 Pandemic, June 22 - 24, 2020, will take place in the form of online video broadcast which will be offered live and archived. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the nation's health system. Many front-line providers caring for COVID patients are exhausted or ill. Most hospitals and health systems, especially rural institutions, have been financially disadvantaged by the cancellation of elective procedures and the burdens of caring for COVOD patients. A number are furloughing employees. Many medical practices have been forced to close their doors and are a risk for financial failure. Some health plans have enjoyed short-term fiscal success because to the cancellation of elective procedures, but anticipate that these costs will hit hard as the pandemic eases. Only virtual and telehealth providers have clearly be advantaged by the pandemic. The Summit will bring together the nation's health system leaders to engage in a real-time dialogue on pandemic recovery and the future of health care in America.
