BOSTON, MA USA -- HEALTHCARE UPDATE NEWS SERVICE™ -- NOVEMBER 9, 2020: As the global efforts to develop and manufacture effective COVID-19 vaccines continue to show promising results, attention is shifting, as it must, to what happens after a vaccine is approved. Continuing our Looming Challenges in COVID-19 Immunization series, our third summit on Tuesday, November 10th will address the progress made on federal and state immunization plans. Our panelists will bring their diverse experiences to a discussion of the continuing challenges of establishing vaccine confidence and trust, especially in communities of color which have expressed higher levels of vaccine hesitancy. We will examine the impact the election is likely to have on this issue. We will also review what is known about state planning efforts, focusing on the phased administration of vaccines based on proposed equitable allocation frameworks. We hope to emerge from the third summit with a clearer sense of the key strengths and gaps in guidance and resources needed to launch a successful vaccination campaign.

NEHI is pleased to announce that Paul Biddinger, MD, FACEP is the keynote speaker of the Summit. Dr. Paul Biddinger holds the Ann L. Prestipino, MPH Endowed Chair in Emergency Preparedness and is the Director of the Center for Disaster Medicine, and Vice Chairman for Emergency Preparedness in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston.
