WASHINGTON DC USA -- HEALTHCARE UPDATE NEWS SERVICE™ -- JANUARY 23, 2026: Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Health Equity Fellowship for Trainees (HEFT), a program designed to equip early-career researchers with the tools, mentorship, and scholarly grounding to advance health equity research.
Our HEFT Fellowship Covers:
- One-on-one mentorship from health equity research leaders
- One-on-one guidance from Health Affairs editorial staff
- Opportunities to expand their professional networks through engagement with other fellows and peer health services researchers
We encourage academic departments, research mentors, program partners, and health-policy leaders to share this opportunity with trainees who demonstrate:
- Strong commitment to health equity and health-services research
- A developing research agenda with potential for high scholarly and social impact
- Interest in publishing, presenting, and contributing to national policy conversations
- Leadership readiness and engagement with peer-reviewed research
