Register for the WEDI Federal Policy Consultation (FPC) Process: the New X12 Version 008060 HIPAA Transactions


WASHINGTON DC USA -- HEALTHCARE UPDATE NEWS SERVICE™ -- APRIL 9, 2026: On April 22, WEDI will launch the Federal Policy Consultation (FPC) process, a new initiative designed to proactively engage stakeholders on emerging federal health care policies and regulatory priorities. Through education, surveys, and live events, WEDI’s FPC will identify key topics and convene subject matter experts to provide foundational education while gathering real-world perspectives from across key stakeholders.

Our first FPC event will cover the new X12 Version 008060 HIPAA transactions. With this FPC, WEDI is creating a unique opportunity for the health care industry to share insights on the potential benefits, costs, and possible implementation challenges associated with this new version of the transaction standards.



Stakeholders will have four opportunities to engage and share perspectives on Version 008060:
  1. Access the WEDI HIPAA resource page. WEDI has developed a resource page that includes background on HIPAA and its supporting regulations as well as recorded conference sessions on Version 008060. X12 also has educational resources on Version 008060.

  2. Complete a survey. The questionnaire was developed to better determine the impact adopting the Version 008060 administrative transactions could have on the health care system. The survey will close April 24, 2026.

  3. Submit comments. WEDI has developed an online statement submission portal where interested stakeholders can submit their perspectives and recommendations on the potential adoption of Version 008060. The portal will close April 24, 2026.

  4. Participate at the FPC live event April 22, 12-4 pm ET to hear from a broad range of industry experts and share your perspectives and recommendations on the potential implementation of Version 008060. The event is free and open to all.
Following the completion of the survey and the live event, WEDI will issue a public report to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), providing a detailed overview of stakeholder perspectives results of the survey, and statements submitted in the online portal and recommendations on Version 008060. It will also be posted at wedi.org.
